George Larach 9/29/17 ELA C 155-222 Persepolis Blog Question: Why did Marjane's parents decide to send her to Europe? Do you think this was the right decision? Why or why not? (Harrison, Kim. "ELA 2015-2016") Answer: I think Marjane's parents made a right decision to send her to Europe. They were trying to prevent Marajne from experiencing more war and death. However, Marjane had to face her own internal war with her maturity and nationality, for she no longer wanted to seem like a child, and she didn't want people to know she was Iranian. In order to solve these problems, Marjane first had to force herself to mature. She made new friends (p. 167), who debatably were a good or bad influence on her. She learned not to rely on others when she moved in by herself to an apartment, and to not take anything from anyone when she insulted the sisters.
